Pacific Palisades · Community nonprofit in formation
Help for the neighbors the recovery has left behind.
Nearly two years after the fire, many renters, condo owners, and middle-income homeowners are watching their temporary-housing coverage run out — with no home to return to yet. We're here to help you find your footing and find your way home.
Free and confidential. You don't need to have it all figured out.
The gap
Who falls through the cracks
Much of the recovery has been built around two groups: people with the means to rebuild on their own, and people who qualify for income-based aid. Many families fall between the two.
Renters
Many renters had little or no renters insurance, and some received only a short relocation payment. Rents nearby have climbed while the search for a stable place goes on.
Condo owners
Your rebuild depends on an HOA, a master policy, and dozens of neighbors agreeing. Meanwhile, you're paying a mortgage on a home that isn't there, plus rent somewhere else.
Middle-income homeowners
Too much income for most aid programs, not enough savings to cover the gap when temporary-housing (ALE) coverage ends before the house is rebuilt.
Is your ALE ending soon?
If your Additional Living Expenses (temporary housing) coverage ends within the next few months, reach out now — not the week it stops. Extensions, appeals, and other options take time.
How it works
One neighbor, one point of contact
- 1
Tell us where you are
A short, private form — or a phone call if you'd rather. No documents needed to start.
- 2
A neighbor calls you back
A trained volunteer listens, helps you sort out what's urgent, and becomes your point of contact.
- 3
We work the problem with you
Housing leads, help with insurance paperwork and appeals, connections to legal aid and assistance programs, and someone checking in.
